Sell your Shopify products on Walmart Marketplace

Shopify and Walmart have announced a new partnership that allows businesses who host their stores on Shopify to sell their products on Walmart Marketplace at no charge for Shopify sellers. Walmart Marketplace reportedly reaches 120 million monthly visitors, making this partnership a potentially huge opportunity for Shopify sellers.

The Walmart integration will be set up as another "channel" within Shopify, similar to the Facebook integration announced at Shopify Reunite last month. Sellers will be able to list their selected products or entire catalog on Walmart's website and even add a badge to participate in Walmart's two-day shipping program.

This is clearly a boon for Shopify sellers, but also a big deal for Walmart, which for years has been struggling to compete in e-commerce against Amazon. Walmart recently shuttered Jet.com, which it had acquired several years ago for a significant sum with the hope of using the startup platform in its war with Amazon. Now, Walmart hopes to on-board 1200 Shopify merchants onto its still-fledgling Marketplace platform by the end of the year.

To get started, just install the free Walmart Marketplace app to your Shopify store, which is already available. You'll need to submit an application to confirm your eligibility, which includes checks such as having an EIN, offering competitive pricing, and fulfilling from a US-based warehouse with returns capability. Once your application is accepted, you can set up your Walmart-hosted product catalog.
